Her foot slipped and she started to fall, her summer-sky blue hair fanned out above her head. It seemed time was going at a snail’s pace watching ever so slowly as the backside of her friend and the edge of the ground met her field of vision and then passed it. She could barely get out a sound; however it was enough to make Marron’s ears twitch. He looked back just in time to see the last glimpse of her hair.

“AMI!” He yelled turning back towards the end of the cliff. He leaps towards the cliff side reaching out his tanned hand towards the darkness unknown if he will be in time or not. He landed on his hard on his chest, almost knocking the breath out of his lungs. He felt something grip his hand, he closed his fingers over what he is hoping was Ami’s human hand.
Marron took a deep breath and peered over the side and his bright emerald green eyes tearing up as he saw Ami’s clear sky-blue eyes looking up at him.

“Are you alright?” he asked as he pulled her up and over the side. He sat back moving one arm behind him and relaxing on the grass.

“I’m ok, just give me a second to catch my breath” Ami answered in deep breaths, she was just getting over the rush of feelings that swirled around her head.

They are in the Saguraki Conservation District on the planet Neudaiz. Neudaiz is a mostly water and full of people that live with nature. The Saguraki C.D. is a protected natural area that lies in the mountains to the southeast of the capital, Ohtoku City.

The ground is literally pink of the fallen petals of thousands of the cherry blossom trees that line every known path. The mission they are on was from the Guardians, which both were former members. The guardians had to contract the mission out to Little Wing, a mercenary group that does odd and end jobs for a price, as long as it wasn’t against the policies. They both wore Guardian’s uniforms for fun, Ami wore the normal blue and white version however she added her own flare by changing the neck tie to a different color. Marron didn’t look so well in the blue and white colors due to his long blue-violet hair; therefore he had a modified version with the colors of black and orange. He reached his hand up and messed with the orange goggles that he always wore, thinking on the mission they are on. The Guardian’s didn’t give Marron and Ami many details, only stating to go into the area to meet someone, do as they requested and return back to Guardians HQ for the reward. He should have gone to this mission alone but he had noticed that she was looking depressed recently, so he had asked her to come along. It was also a good place to find rare weapons both Marron and Ami preferred to use in battle, the twin dagger group. Marron was built where he could use any weapon he wanted but for some reason he loved twin daggers. He looked back at Ami wondering if she was ready to continue on. His long ears twitched again; he looked around to find the source of the twitching. He shrugged it off and looked back at Ami who was looking at him.

“What’s wrong?” he asked cocking his head to the side questionably.

“Your ears…how do they feel?” Ami asked point blank. Marron stared blankly back at her

“What do you mean?” he asked back, he thought about it for a second. “Ok, go on, I know what you’re asking…” he said shortly afterwards. Her face lit up.

“WOOW Marron you take such good care of them, so soft and silky! I want a blanket like this” she said rubbing and touching his ears. She moved her fingers around the outer tips of his long beast ears. They pointed up towards the back of his head; they actually are taller than the tip of his skull. He does take good care of them; as a child people of all races, even other beasts, would come up and want to touch them. He would gladly let Ami touch them if it would cheer her up a bit. He disliked seeing his friends, especially a close friend like Ami, be depressed. He actually liked getting them rubbed but he thought he would just keep that to himself.

“I feel so much better” she said after she was done. His ears twitched again, this time he caught a whiff of something. “Wait …someone is out there” he said. The smell was either human or newmen; they used more perfume like products then beasts and casts always smelled like oil and metal. A bush rustled as someone popped out.

It was the person who ordered the mission, Miss Shay. She was a tall newman woman with the long pointed elf-like ears of her kind; her blonde hair fell over her dark skinned shoulders in ringlets as she swayed back and forth in a dark red slit evening gown that is common lately with the bar hostesses. She smelled like something sweet like strawberries, but with a tang of orange. He got up slowly as Ami greeted her.

“Oh Miss Shay Are we meeting you here?” Ami asked while Marron stood back and surveyed the surroundings.

“Why yes my little ones, do you see that abandon temple over to your left?” she asked with an air of mystery in her voice. Both Ami and Marron nodded. There are rumors about that temple, abandoned by the communion of Gurhal many years ago. Some say ancient but powerful weapons are hidden in one of the storerooms. Other say native creatures made many rooms their home and will attack unprovoked.

“There is a hidden object in one of the storerooms that I need, you may keep whatever else you find but I need this…object… as soon as possible, will you get it for me?” She asked in an overly sweet voice.

“What…does it look like?” Marron asked, “we can’t find it unless you let us who what we are looking for.” he added on quickly.

“Ah yes, It looks like a statue of a woman with wings” she said, “Please be careful I shall await you here” she finished as she sat down under one of the cherry blossom trees. Miss Shay smiled at them with an eeriness that Marron wanted to run from, his beastly instincts telling him to run away from this woman.
Marron turned to Ami signaling to leave. She followed close behind him turning around to see the woman smile strangely at them with cold blue eyes.

A while later they stood at the overgrown entrance of the temple. Marron knocked on the door, trying to find a place to push it in to get it open. He found a spot a moment later and pushed the heavy door open. A rush of cool stagnate air blew passed them as they gaze into the shrine. He pulled his weapons out of his nano-transformer, a device that allows him to bring forth his weapons out of seems to be nowhere, and held on to them. He turned to Ami to see her doing the same thing. They nodded at each other and walked into the hallway.

After descending down into the last of the temple floors Marron breathed heavily after fighting off hoards of monster over and over again. He was getting low on supplies and he was sure Ami was as well. They had two more rooms to search before they could leave, as one of them had to hold this statue the client wanted so badly. Ami stood close to the next room, her back against the wall, one of her daggers up for defense and the other ready for the attack. Marron nodded to her as he kicked open the door revealing a large open room with pillars of light in each corner. They kept their guard up as they quietly entered. Suddenly the door slammed shut behind them and Marron heard the door click tight.

“DAMN IT!” He shouted as a large roar came from the middle of the room. Marron turned slowly as his eyes widen. It was an Alterazgohg, a large 2 headed dragon like beast that was rumored to be born from heavy experimentation by the communion of Gurhal. Ami stepped back to Marron.

“Are you ready to handle this?” She asked, gripping the handles of her blades tightly.

“Ha! It’ll be nothing but a light workout for me!” Marron bellowed in excitement. Ami nodded in agreement and ran towards the large monster. Marron followed behind her as she attacked the beast with her daggers moving and dodging gracefully. The Alterazgohg swiped its tail to the side and knocked Ami back. Marron ran to her and protected her from the next onslaught of attacks from the dragon.

“You alright?” He asked hastily before the creature started its next assault. Ami nodded she was ok and stood back up. They continued to battle like this for a long period of time, how long Marron didn’t know. It seems all hope was lost when something inside Marron told him something, to nano-blast. It was something only beasts could do; for a short period of time a beast can transform into their primitive form and shred enemies apart. The down side was that Marron would be so tired afterwards that he won’t be able to stand. He sighed and looked at Ami who was hiding behind a pillar, taking a small breath as the dragon looked for them on the other side of the room.

“Ami” he whispered as he crouched next to her. “I’m gunna blast” he said.

“I thought you hated to blast” she asked quietly next to him. He nodded in response. It was true he hated to nano-blast, to become that ugly huge beast; however this time he must to save such a dear friend to him.

“Distract him as I get ready please?” he asked her, she nodded her head and ran out yelling at the dragon. It turned both its heads to her and roared in unison. Marron breathed in deeply and felt the swelling of his beast power rise up out of his soul. He blinked and started to transform.

Ami barely dodged another attack as she hears the howls of Marron nano-blasting. His huge hunching form ran with great speed towards the Alterazgohg. He rose up his hairy arm and extended his claws and he brought them down on the leg, the Alterazgohg wailed in pain as Marron kept up the fury of attacks. Ami started to attack once again from long range with a gun, letting out powerful shots with all her might.

The dragon’s twin head screamed out one last sound as it fell to the floor. Marron stopped and he de-blasted back to his normal state.

“We did it!” Ami yelled happily. Marron bobbed his head in agreement before falling to the floor in exhaustion. A large clanking sound could be heard from a door near-by as the door opened. From what Marron could see it was safe to go in there.

“Go check it out, I’m not moving” he said cheerfully. Ami ran towards the door and disappeared inside. He stared at the door for what seemed like hours before she came back out holding a statue with wings.

“I found what the client wanted” she said sitting down next to him, showing him the glistening statue. He slowly got back up. “Let’s get out of here” he said staring at the body of the Alterazgohg, it seemed like it may jump up and attack once again.

They backtracked through the temple until they reached the outside. They both cherished the fresh air they now breathed. They walked gradually back to the area they left Miss Shay at. They found her under the same tree they left her at.

“Here you go miss” Ami said handing the statue to the woman.

“Thank you young ones” she smiled. Marron was about to say something when he heard Ami shriek about something, he turned towards her.

“What?” he asked.

“Something touched my shoulder, I guess it was a petal… so…wait…where did she go?” Ami stuttered in the middle of her sentence. Marron turned around and saw that Miss Shay was gone.

“Let’s just go, this place is creeping me out now” Ami said folding her arms tightly.

“Yea…” Marron trailed off.

They later returned to the Guardian’s HQ and filled a complete report. Mina, the receptionist, looked at the paperwork.

“How weird, I was speaking with some people and they said they have never heard of a Miss Shay or any woman with that description” Mina said.
Ami and Marron looked and each other and shook their heads. Marron got the reward for the job and halved it with Ami.

“Thank for coming with me, even though it was creepy at the end” he stated “At lease you don’t look depressed anymore.”

“I wasn’t depressed” she said sternly. Marron lifted an eyebrow in fake surprise.

“Oh really? I thought you might be a little down in the dumps because you haven’t seen your Hyuga around lately” he said jokingly. Her face became a little red.

“NO!” she said pushing him playfully before running towards the port to head home.

“HEY!” he shouted “wait for me!” he said following her into the terminal that would take them safely home.
